What is Family medicine Post graduate course?

 

Physician after MBBS post graduate training in all ages including children care(pediatrics) adult care ( General medicine) ,women’s health ,mostly out patient practice.

India training options are

For post MBBS MD family Medicine: 3 years
For post MBBS : 3 years ( DNB family Medicine)
For post MBBS + Diplomate of National Board in Family Medicine: 2 years,
ROTATIONAL POSTINGS During the 3 years MD / DNB course,

 

Post Graduates will attend 36 months

27 months of hospital based and

 9 months of Field based mandatory rotational postings.

 

During hospital-based postings,

the candidate will be placed in various departments as follows:

· Pediatrics - 6 months

· Obstetrics & gynecology - 6 months

· Internal Medicine including mental health - 6 months

· Emergency Services including ICU - 3 months

· General Surgery - 3months

· Miscellaneous - 3 months (Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, DVD, Psychiatry etc)

Diploma In family Medicine

24 months

Foundation course : 15 days

· Pediatrics - 4 months

· Obstetrics & gynecology - 4 months

( 2 months labor r0om+ 1 month Gynecology OPD + 1 month of family planning)

 

· General Medicine - 5 months

· Emergency Services including ICU – 2 1/2 months

· Dermatology : 1 month

· Miscellaneous - 2 ½ months (Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, , Psychiatry etc)

Community health center 3 ½ months
